This feature is definitely the funniest lady rockin' locs on the 'net. One of my first internet encounters with her had be laughing out loud as I watched her Loc'd up Video Collab. She describes herself as a "designer. singer. comedian. But not necessarily in that order."

Q: When and why did you decide to loc your hair?
A: I went natural in 2002 and loc'd my hair in 2004. I went natural after growing frustrated with my hair constantly breaking and falling out due to relaxing and coloring my hair. Once I went off to college I could no longer afford getting regular relaxers so I decided to just take the leap and go natural. I'd always been interested in wearing locs but didn't know much about them. So I consulted a family friend who had locs and she started mine for me in '04 and I never looked back!
Q: Did a professional start your locs and what method did you use to start?
A: One of my mom's friends started my locs using comb coils.
Q: What are three products you can't live without for nurturing/styling your locs?
A: Hmmm... honestly, I could live without all of my products. Ha! I'm not that much of a product junkie. But I use Jamaican Mango and Lime loc and twist gel to maintain my roots and Mane and Tail shampoo.
Q: When and why did you start a blog/vlog?
A: I've had my own website since 1998, and I purchased franchesca.net in 2002. So I've been blogging for awhile now. I went away to computer camp the summer before I started 8th grade and became friends with a girl who had her own website. I just thought she was so awesome and I instantly knew I had to have my own site as well. We signed up for an advanced HTML class together (even though I had no clue what HTML was) and I just followed behind her and learned how to code my site by reading the source code of her sites and other sites I discovered online. I didn't start video blogging until 2006 after I graduated from college. I got an iMac with a built in camera for graduation and decided to try my hand at editing and making videos. I originally started off making hair videos because I couldn't find any video tutorials for hairstyles. So I decided to start making some of my own! My videos kind of snowballed from there and have since branched out into a separate channel just for hair and my main channel focuses mainly on comedy and vlogs.
Q: What would you say to someone who's thinking about locking?
Or someone struggling with their locs?
A: If you're thinking about locs, do your research first. Locs don't just develop over night and they do take maintenance. If you're struggling with your locs, hang in there! The rough teenage stage doesn't last forever. Part of the process is having patience and just enjoying the journey. I promise it's worth it!
